About

About Elyra

Elyra draws your chart from your birth date, time and place and reads each day's sky against it. Everything on your Today screen, from what the day favors to what to go easy on, points to the transit behind it.

How Elyra works out your chart

Where the planets were

Elyra works out where the Sun, the Moon and the planets were at the moment you were born, using precise astronomical data.

Your signs

Elyra uses the tropical zodiac, the one Western astrology uses. Aries starts at the March equinox, so the signs follow the seasons.

Your houses

Your chart is divided into twelve houses, each standing for an area of life. Elyra uses Placidus, the most popular house system in Western astrology. For people born beyond the polar circles, where Placidus doesn't work, it uses another system called Porphyry.

If you don't know your birth time

Your Rising sign changes every couple of hours and your houses depend on it, so both need your birth time. Without it, Elyra uses 12:00 noon. Most of your chart stays the same, but the Moon moves fast, so now and then a noon chart puts it in a different sign. You can add your time later in Me → Settings → Birth data.

Transits

Every day Elyra compares where the planets are now with your chart. When a planet today forms an angle with one in your chart, that's a transit. Each one starts, peaks and ends, and Elyra shows you when.

How the daily texts are written

An AI model writes the daily horoscope for each Sun sign and the Premium daily reading. The horoscope starts from today's sky, and the Premium reading also uses your chart and your current transits. The model never sees your email, your account or the birth details you entered.
